Death metal band release "The Nothing" music video

Nothing- something of no importance, value, or concern . As defined by Webster's Dictionary, "Nothing" holds little to no value and/or importance but that isn't the case with The Hopewell Furnace's new music video for The Nothing.  The video is five straight minutes of brutal, slamming, death metal. Filmed in what appears to be an old mine deep in the coal region of PA, the video touches on a lot of historic topics. A huge piece of historical significance seen throughout the video is the bands utilization of burlap sacks covering their faces. Burlap sacks were placed over the heads of the Molly Maguires prior to their hangings, most of them taking place in the nearby Mauch Chunk Jail in Jim Thorpe, PA, during the late 1800s. The 1800s theme is scene from the very beginning, where we see a man dressed in the attire of the era, staring at a table with a small candelabra placed on it. Immediately after this, and in between scenes made to look like flashbacks from

Album Review: Ultraviolent's "Eviction"

I grew up listening to all types of metal, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Pantera, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc. But NEVER have I heard metal quite like the metal that is found in Pine Grove based Ultraviolent’s debut album, ‘Eviction’. Composed of Brett Anspach, lead guitar and vocals, Danny Koury, guitar, Avery LeVan, bass and co-vocals, and Brandon Babcock, drums, the band states that their genre is Rock/Metal, but more “Nu-Metal” vibes can be found in this album.  The album begins with the haunting introduction, “Inception” which is a minute long prelude to the chaos thats soon to come, a sort-of, ‘calm before the storm’. “Inception” jumps right into the hard hitter, “Insult to Injury” which was the first single released from the album, a music video accompanying the track was also released. “Insult to Injury” starts off with a simple, but chilling guitar intro, before the drums hit. The speed slowly picks up before the first vocal is heard. Anspach’s mix

The Strange and Unusual: Northeast PA's Hidden Treasure

Have you ever seen Beetlejuice? If you have, you’ll remember when Lydia Deetz said “I, myself, am strange and unusual” And nestled away in the heart of Northeast PA sits the real life incarnation of that. The Strange and Unusual, convienently located 5 miles outside of Wilkes-Barre, and 22 miles from Scranton, this quaint shop draws in crowds from all areas. And that’s just one location! The second location sits just in the heart of Philadelphia, about 100 miles from the first location! The Kingston location is also now home to a witchy, Harry Potter inspired coffee shop, ‘Steamy Hallows’ which is based in New York. But, who is the mastermind behind one of Northeast PA’s most fabulous hidden treasure? The answer is none other than Josh Balz, a lifelong Northeast PA native, and former Keyboardist of metalcore band ‘Motionless in White’. Alonna was able to catch up with Josh for a couple of questions on August 1st, during his Eddie Munster meet and greet event at The Strange and
